Harding hosts Mat Kearney concert for students, public

IMG_4322Harding University, with the help of Harding’s club CAB, recently hosted Mat Kearney to give a concert in the Benson Auditorium.

Colony House, a band out of Franklin, Tennessee, opened the show with new music.

“CAB stands for Campus Activities Board and is the organization responsible for on campus activities and events. We put on concerts, show movies, host game shows, and generally bring fun to campus,” said Campus Life director Logan Light.

Light also explained that CAB is a part of the Office of Campus Life, and the Office of Campus Life also puts together all freshman orientation programs.

The events that CAB hosts does not exclude the general public; a few high school students went to enjoy the show.

“I decided to go to the Mat Kearney concert because I love his music and seeing him live sounded like something I would be interested in,” said senior Becca Buterbaugh.

IMG_4323 The Benson Auditorium flooded with people anticipating the show.

Mat Kearney sang songs that he wrote about experiences from his personal life.

“I loved the song that Mat Kearney sang about his dad because I had never heard it before, and it was heartfelt. That song was definitely my favorite,” said Buterbaugh.

At one point during the show, Mat Kearney joined the audience for crowd surfing and interaction with his fans.

“It was so exciting when Mat Kearney came in to the crowd,” said Buterbaugh.
