The Varsity Lady Lions Basketball team, hosted their first game of the season a couple of weeks ago.

The team is small and will only play varsity this year. Because of this, Coach Michelle Birdsong feels it will be tough on the team.

“I thought that we looked a little winded at times…we are only playing nine girls,” Birdsong said.

Senior Rhea Nicholson though the team did well.

“I thought we did pretty good, but we were kind of off at first…but I try to step it up,” Nicholson said.

Rhea thinks the season may be a little long for the Lady Lions since they only have nine player

“I feel like it’s going to be kind of hard…but if we work hard, we might have a good season,” Rhea said.s on the team.

Birdsong said the girls will get a lot of playing time because of the shortage of players. But the fact that the team only has nine players is not going to hinder them from working and practicing hard.

“Once we get together and play together our team will start to come together,” Birdsong said.
