image3The tennis team is off to an amazing start this season. Because of their rigorous practices through the summer, the team is expecting good results and many improvements. Placing second in the Lion Invitational tournament at the beginning of the season, the team really started things off on a high note. Senior varsity player Aly Reynolds expressed much adoration for the team this year.

Reynolds is very hopeful for the season because “so many new people joined the team that have a lot of talent.”

She expects even better results from the team this year than in previous years. “I have seen a lot of improvement in the way our team works together as a whole, and we all motivate each other. It’s great being with such a positive group of people,” Reynolds said.

There are numerous games on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thurdsays throughout the season. The season ends in October with the State tournement. Many of the players have high hopes of making it to the state tournement this year. Reynolds told us she was so close to making it into the tournement last year, and with her personal image2improvements, she believes that she stands a good chance at making it this year.

Senior varsity boys player Mathew Pistochokie has a few different opinions on the team this year.

“I think that we are not as strong as we were last year, but I believe we will still do good this season,” Mathew said.

When asked about the downfalls he has seen in the team this year, Mathew said, “Some people get mad too easily when they mess up.”

Although these two varsity players have different opinions on the team this year, they both are very hopefull on making it to state.

“Yes, I am hoping to make it to state this year because me and my partner Jacob have not lost a single match this year,” Mathew said.

The tennis team will be playing Mountain Home, Russellville, Beebe, Jonesboro, and Alma here at Searcy High School very soon. Make sure you make it out to one of these matches to see the team in action.
