Searcy (LP) Searcy Lions have Wrestling Conference this Valentine’s weekend on the 13th. So in an interview with Coach Evans he said that the conference season went very well Searcy ended up being Conference record of 12-1. Searcy Lions won 4th at Dual State and the number 1 Central Team and number 1 6A team in the state. In preparing his team Evans tended to focus on individual wrestling styles, working on conditioning, and visualize what they will be doing Saturday. Every tournament they go into gets tougher and more intense. Coach Evans said one person who he has seen improve this season is Caleb Freeman, he is 37-0, will be the number one seat going into conference and state and has made dramatic gains while also becoming a good leader to the team. The wrestling team’s hope is to win conference this year, it’s a tough accomplishment but we have the individuals in place to do it we just have to meet our ability and win matches. Next Jordan Slaughter talked on how he is going into conference, by saying how the hard practices conditions him for conference. Even though Slaughter won state last year Coach Evans is still being tougher on him because he expects more out of them. His competition is pretty much the same except for the seniors leaving and new freshmen coming in. He has one person he has to look out for this season in his weight class but besides that it is also the same. Coach Evans is definitely Slaughters motivator. Wish the boys good luck this weekend and we’re hoping to win conference.
