Searcy (LP) People may think track is just running in a big oval and turning left, but to some people it is much more. Senior Andrew Ezell says, “I have always had a passion for running and racing, racing is a type of running that I can enjoy even if there is no one to race against. Your biggest competitor in running is yourself, because you have to push yourself to be the absolute best you can be.” In choosing what races that the athletes will compete in is totally up to themselves, as Coach Carol states, “If I were to put them into the events they did not want to run they would not give it all they have in that race, but if I let them choose either they will do really good or realize that it is just not the race for them.” After talking to Ezell, he said he would really like to run the 800 or 4×800, and his goal is to make and state and when he gets there to the best he can do. Another senior, Blake Noland, says he is doing track because, “I have always had a love for running and track in particular, because after all of these years of running I can tell that the love for it that I have has not gone down but risen.” Noland plans to do some of the hardest events that you can do at a track meet which include running the one mile, 4×800, 800, and seeing how high he can fly with pole vaulting. “I want to always do my best and get to state in at least one of my events.”

Having senior leaders like Andrew Ezell and Blake Noland make coming together as a family a whole lot easier for the rest of the team. The SHS Track team looks forward to a great season and an even better offseason. In offseason, they practice and practice to get ready for the season they have ahead and push themselves to the extremes. As Ezell and Noland both said, “this year is gonna be a good one.”
