Searcy (LP) The human body is actually about sixty-five percent water, so you could say that drinking water could be one of the best things for you, but what if the water you are drinking has chemicals, plastics, and might not even be filtered. If you are a daily bottled water drinker than you might know that some brands have more added ingredients on the label. We sat down with Brandy King and got to know how a mom might feel about the added ingredients, “When you look at the label on a water bottle the only ingredient I expect to see is water, when you give your kids water you should not be afraid that it could harm them.”
Some people have realized that Bisphenol A, also known as BPA, Polyethylene Terephthalate and Phthalates are all found in the plastic to make water bottles and then transferred from the plastic to the water. For example Dasani bottled water has four ingredients, tap water, magnesium sulfate, potassium chloride and salt. Now let’s take a look at that second ingredient, magnesium sulfate, this is also known as epsom salt or bath salts, coca-cola says that this ingredient that is sometimes referred to as a drying agent is added to “quench thirst”. Now the third ingredient is potassium chloride, it is commonly used as a fertilizer and is also used in lethal injections to stop the heart. Coca-cola claims that this ingredient should “improve taste” but, potassium chloride is known to have a weak, bitter or unsalted flavor, could this really improve the taste? And the fourth ingredient salt is actually rarely dangerous, and would most likely not be dangerous if you didn’t drink six to seven bottles of Dasani in one day.
Mrs.King said that “We used to always drink Dasani until my daughter and I started getting dry mouths”, the magnesium sulfate would be what was causing the dryness in the mouth. “When I found out that Dasani was the culprit we started buying Ozarka brand water”, stated Mrs. King, she also said that “Ozarka is just natural spring water and that is their only ingredient.” While doing research we found out that not only would added things into our bottled water is harmful, but just having plastic on the outside could be even more harmful, so to be completely safe Mrs. King said “We might just all want to stick to drinking our own filtered water from the fridge.”
