Searcy(LP) Orchestra’s Mid-Winter Concert begins next Tuesday, March 7th, 2017. It is free to the public. This concert has been prepared by Searcy High School Orchestra for almost one month since this semester has started.
The Mid-Winter concert is a second last concert of this semester. There are four groups of the orchestra playing this Tuesday. They are 7th-grade, 8th-grade, 9th-grade and high school orchestra respectively. Searcy High School Orchestra is practicing and will perform three songs on the concert. These songs are “Themes From The Moldau”, “The Old Sioux Trail” and “Flight”. The difficulties of those three songs are all suitable for the orchestra and they all sound very beautiful. Chesni Raibley, a senior of the orchestra, said “ My favorite song is the Themes From The Moldau because the melody is very pretty. This piece of music is describing the river Moldau. I like the second part of this piece. It is for a wedding and sounds very happy and lively.” The first scene of the Moldau is talking about the river flows past a group of hunters and the second scene is describing a wedding at the side of the river. “The Moldau is always my favorite song. I listen to it every time whether I am happy or sad.” said Mrs. Guthrie, the teacher of the Searcy Schools Orchestra. The other two songs are also very pretty especially the Flight. The Flight is a very popular song and every student in the orchestra has played it before.
This concert music is very important and Mrs. Guthrie and the high school orchestra students have tried their best to practice and prepare these three pieces. They have prepared for this concert for almost one month. Those concert music pieces will also be performed on the Region Concert Contest Assessment at West Memphis. This is a very big and formal contest. Students will go to West Memphis and the concert is a rehearsal before the contest and shows the students and parents what they’ve been playing recently.
This concert is a free family-friendly concert and welcomes everyone to come and enjoy the music. The concert is next Tuesday at 7:00PM and it is in the Searcy High School auditorium (PAC).
