Searcy (LP) School is almost over and students are eager for the summer break to start. Many will go to their normal routine of staying at home all day or getting a summer job. Others go on long-awaited summer vacations of the year. Whether these vacations are simply just renting a lake house for a couple of weeks at Greer’s Ferry Lake or touring the exciting countries in Europe, students can’t wait for summer to start.
The lake at Greer’s Ferry is a popular destination. Activities such as fishing, boating and swimming puts this place on the map. Cullin Fitzpatrick, a Junior at SHS, said “My family usually goes to the lake every summer for a couple of weeks. We either go camping or rent a cabin on the beach front.” With so many things to do here, it’s no wonder Greer’s Ferry Lake attracts so many tourists. A couple of activities to do here include the cliffs at the lake where swimmers daringly jump into the waters, or watching the Fourth of July fireworks show every year over the lake. Fitzpatrick said, “I like to spend my time here either fishing or just enjoying the scenery. It’s just a real peaceful setting here.”
On the other hand many students are going on a tour of Europe from June 16th to June 25th. The tour is over a week long excursion in cities Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, and London. Connor Collins, a Junior going on this trip, said, “I’m excited to be going on this trip. It’ll be a cool experience to see all these new countries.” The tour includes the Eiffel Tower, biking through the streets of Amsterdam, the Palace of Versailles, Big Ben, the London Eye, The Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Love Lock Bridge, and the Buckingham Palace. Collins said, ” I think this is a great opportunity to learn about other cultures and countries.”
As school wraps to an end, and summer begins students can’t wait for their break to start. We hope you all have a great summer, and even better summer vacations.
