Searcy, Ark.,(LP) — Baseball is a game played everywhere, in parks, playgrounds, and prison yards, in back alleys and farmers fields, by small children and old men, raw amateurs and millionaire professionals. It is a leisurely game that demands blinding speed. It is the only game in which the defence has the ball. Now that Searcy’s football has come to an end and basketball season is almost over, you know what that means, BASEBALL SEASON! The Searcy High School baseball team has an incredible winning history. Baseball has and always will be a favorite sport at Searcy. Tons of fans come to support the lions.
The Searcy High Lions have a very impressive roster this year with just seniors alone! “We all have a special bond that wasn’t hard to create. When you all enjoy doing the same thing you love, you feel more protection on and off the field,” said senior Bobby Graham. Bobby has been playing baseball all of his life. He hopes to achieve all of his goals by the end of this season. Bobby has high standards for the team and plans to go into the championships for his senior year. He also plans on going to college while playing baseball.
“Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again. That’s the way life is, with a new game every day, and that’s the way baseball is.” That is Mason Shucker’s favorite quote about baseball. “Baseball has always been apart of me and a side that nobody has known,” said Mason. Baseball is a chance to meet new people and to do what you love. Searcy Baseball attracts a lot of fans. Mason enjoys playing knowing that many fans are cheering him on, including the faculty and staff of Searcy High School.
Searcy is a town full of life. Searcy High School is full of determination. The school is most known for football, but once that is over, baseball is the new favorite. This year is a new year to start fresh with the team. The coaches are very picky about the workouts and practices. The team is a family and will be red and black forever. The seniors are cherishing every moment. This year will definitely be one for the books. Come watch your Searcy Lions take on Bald Knob locally at 5:30 on March 5th!
