SPECIAL OLYMPIC PEP RALLY:  There will be a Special Olympic Pep Rally this Friday, April 20 at 2:40 for grades 9th-12th.

CONGRATULATIONS to Chris Ditto for gaining Microsoft Master Certification this week. 

 

TENNIS TRYOUTS:Tryouts for the 2018 varsity tennis team will begin on May 14-15 @ 5:00 at the SHS courts.  You must have a current physical in order to try out.  No exceptions.  Returning players must try out. The top 10 players on ladies’ and men’s sides will make varsity.  Everyone else will be invited to play in the SYTL.  Students may begin signing up for tennis tryouts on Mon. April 30th in Doc Watson’s room (317).


ANY GT STUDENT : entering grades 10-12 this fall and are interested in attending “Arkansas and the World:Model United Nations Summer Camp” please come by the Guidance Center for more information or by logging on to the website at http://uca.edu/…/model-united-natio…/arkansas-and-the-world/ 

 

SCHOLARS PLAQUES: If you were not able to attend the Scholars Ceremony on April 10th, please pick up your certificate and plaque in the WEST office.

 

GRADUATES:  There will be Transcript Request forms for 8 SEMESTER TRANSCRIPT (final transcript with graduation date) available in both school offices and in the counselor’s office beginning Monday, April 16.  THE REGISTRAR WILL NOT SEND A  FINAL TRANSCRIPT TO A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITHOUT A COMPLETED 8 SEMESTER REQUEST FORM.

 

WRESTLING TRYOUTS:   For any boy or girl that would like to join the wrestling team.  The Searcy High School Wrestling team will be holding tryouts May 1st and 2nd from 3:30 to 6pm in the Wrestling Room (Old Field House).  You must have a physical to tryout.  Go by Coach Ashburn or Mrs. Evans room to pick up a flyer and sign up.  

 

Mikerowe WORKS Foundation’sWork Ethic Scholarship Program: For the fourth year in a row, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation’sWork Ethic Scholarship Program is accepting applications for qualified people looking to get trained for skills jobs that are in demand.  This includes carpentry, construction, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. 

The deadline to submit applications is May 19, 2017, and applicants are strongly encouraged to submit applications  as early as possible.

THE ARKANSAS CATTLEMAN’S ASSOCIATION :has posted scholarships to their web page;   https://www.arbeef.org/scholarships   Any senior who is considering a career in the cattle industry,  the Food Animal Veterinarian/Agricultural communicator area, or any agriculture-related area can find applications for scholarships with the descriptions of what the requirements are for each of the scholarships.

 

2018 SHS GRADUATION DVD PRE-ORDERS: Pick up your DVD order form in either office. Each DVD is $20, and the money must be turned in with your order. Please have exact change or check will be accepted.

 

YEARBOOKS :will be disbursed on Friday, April 27, beginning 5th period.  Following a short slideshow, students will be called by grade level (Seniors, Junior, Sophomores, and Freshmen) to the lobby area of the cafeteria to get their books.  Extra books will be sold on this date for $60 on a first come/first serve basis.  Students hoping to purchase a book on this day may pay in cash (exact change only) or by check.  

 

YEARBOOK APPLICATIONS:for the 2018-19 Lion staff are available.  Please see Mrs. Holeyfield in room 539 if you are interested.  Applications are due by April 30, 2018. 

 

 

SENIORS: The Will McGary Memorial Award has now been posted to the scholarship website. Please make note that this scholarship MUST BE MAILED BY THE APPLICANT to the address specified on the application.

 

SENIORS: If you have been accepted by an accredited school or cooperative program in architecture or construction-related engineering program, please come by the Guidance Center for an application for The Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship.

 

SENIORS:  If you would like to purchase extra Jostens announcements, we have some available in the East office with Ms. Daves.  Cost is $1.00 each.

 

 

GRADUATES:  If you have items ordered from Jostens please come by the east office and see Ms. Daves to pick them up.  

 

IMMUNIZATIONS: If a student has turned 16 years old this school year, a 2nd MCV4 (Meningitis) immunization is required after turning 16 years old.  Please bring a copy of your shot record to the nurse, once you have received the 2nd MCV4 immunization.

 

 

GOLF TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2018 SHS Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 14th-15th at Searcy Country Club.  Any student wishing to tryout MUST sign up in Coach Turney’s room (117), have a physical, and return the information sheet.  There will be a MANDATORY meeting in Coach Turney’s room on May 10th at 3:15 for all students wishing to tryout.  Free physicals at school are scheduled for April 6th.  Physical forms and information sheets can be picked up in Coach Turney’s room.

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

FCCLA: Members who are interested in serving as a FCCLA officer during the 2018-19 school year, please stop by the FACS room and pick up an application.  Deadline is April 20th.
