SEARCY, Ar. (LP) — The Searcy Lady Lions struggled last year to pull a few wins. The Lady Lions only won a total of five games. This season with better workouts, a new coach, and a few new players, They are looking forward to winning more games, and competing with this year’s conference play. The Lady Lions are working towards being very successful this year. They are preparing hard and ready to take on competition.
Kim Sitzmann is the new coach of the Searcy Lady Lions basketball team. She is ready to put forth the effort to make this season a good one. Though the Lady Lions are looking at a tough season ahead, they are mentally ready for the challenge. Kim Sitzmann had her own experience playing basketball also, so she knows what to expect. Kim played for the Cabot Lady Panthers in her high school days, leading on to playing in college. Kim is a 5’10 Guard from Cabot, Arkansas. Kim played in college for UALR. Kim coached for the Searcy Lady Cubs for three years, and has some players she formerly coached in ninth grade. I sat down with the new head coach of the Searcy Lady Lions Basketball team and asked her a few questions about this upcoming season. Kim stated, “I am excited about this season. I am also nervous/anxious. It is my first high school coaching position and it carries more weight than a junior high position.”
With Coach Sitzmann moving up to the high school, the new Ahlf Junior High coach, Zachary Roddenberry, is looking forward to an upcoming season with the Searcy Lady Cubs.
Zach Roddenberry played for our local college, Harding University and was recently hired on as our new Searcy Lady Cubs basketball team. I spoke to Zach to see how it feels being the new Junior High Coach and how he is feeling for this upcoming season. Zach stated, “ I love being the new coach on campus, I enjoy the new opportunity to come into a new place and try my best to be a good example.” Zach also stated, “ I believe this year’s Junior High team is super talented, the 8th grade group has a lot of playing experience and several athletes who just seem to love the game of basketball. The 9th grade team is full of go-getters, girls who will do all the things you ask them to do on the basketball court, and they are all super unselfish and hard working.” Coach Roddenberry is looking forward to this upcoming season and also his first year of coaching.
