Arkansas state police on campus by the library.

SEARCY, Ar (LP) — The Arkansas State Police sets up a headquarters on the Searcy High campus with the Searcy Police Department in the halls to keep the school safe and out of danger. In an interview with Officer Davis of the Searcy police department gave an insight to how the Searcy police feels about the topic. Officer Davis said, “I completely and honestly trust Arkansas state police in the halls of Searcy high schools and I look forward to working with them.” He also gave more insight. He also said, “If they gave me a choice I would still allow state police in the halls, because I have a friend in the state police who has my back.”

Also with the Searcy police in the halls, Searcy schools also put in a new wall in the front of the school, they also put in a chain link fences with locks that only the teacher and other authorized personnel have a key to, along with a set of double doors with electromagnetic locks by the east office, so if you want to get through you have to ask the office secretaries to buzz you in or an authorized personnel to type in a code to let you pass. They installed new cameras around the building and on the buses for added surveillance on the students. However, the school board has brought in a new piece of security. The Arkansas state police.

The Arkansas state police has also set up a substation to help monitor the school halls. State police officer McNeill, who has been in law enforcement since 1996, has set up shop in the high  school building by the library. An interview with him gave his side of the story. He said, “I am thankful to the principal and superintendent for giving me this chance to work on the high school campus to do my work in the office.” He also said, “I was originally in an office in the sheriff’s department, but they gave me an office here in Searcy high school.  It’s bigger for more space for my stuff. I hope to be here for a long while.” It seems like officer McNeill is planning to stay for as long as he can and looks forward to working with officer Davis and the Searcy police.
