SEARCY, Ar. (LP)– Over the years homecoming has always been a tradition to the school but, what would make a more memorial night a Homecoming dance! SHS students all have asked why this has not been put in effect. Many other schools like Riverview , Pangburn and Bryant have a homecoming dance the night of homecoming or the day-after the big homecoming game. SHS students that don’t get to enjoy prom because of their age level could experience that through a homecoming dance.
The homecoming queens get high dollar dresses just to wear for a hour to be announced and than the night is over waiting at a football game. Students need to be able to let loose and enjoy themselves. Senior Cole Raia stated, “I feel like people would enjoy the dance so I would help put this in effect.” SHS students want to be able to come together and make a night fun and exciting. Sophomore Mercedez Shaw said, “Yes I would attend the dance, because it would be fun to be able to hang out with my friends after school hours.” Some students thrive to have a night with music and food and drinks and being around their peers. Mercedez also stated, “I have talked to multiple people all the time about having a dance and everyone says yes.” A lot of SHS students believe that the school will not let us have a homecoming dance is due to dress code which if that was the case, prom wouldn’t be able to happen. Maybe even behavior issues is why this hasn’t been put in effect. Sophomore Reanna Levine stated, “Tenth through 12th should be the only grades allowed to go because 9th graders are not up with are standers and also immature.” Having a homecoming dance would take some time and patience and a lot of planning and level minded students to help pitch the idea to school. SHS students think it would be an amazing idea to have a event where they can dress up and feel beautiful for a night.
SHS students need to be rewarded for all the hard work they put into this school and it could be a reward for the football players just to be able to relax with friends and have a good time. Students at SHS need to make this a event that can be a new tradition for students next year and years after that.
