Searcy, Ar. (LP) — The librarian of the Searcy High School library has helpers to help her keep the library in check and organized. If the library is not kept in check then the library becomes complete chaos and panic and books would start coming up missing and stolen. If the books in the library start to come up missing or stolen then the students who rely on the library for the entertainment purposes thats in a book would not be able to get the history or the stories they require to be able to function in their down time.
Mrs. Mitzie Cannon the librarian of the Searcy High School has helpers to help her to take care of her library right here in Searcy High School. Mrs. Cannon is in charge of the library, but she has student helpers to help her keep an eye on the library and to make sure everything is neat and tidy. Mrs. Cannon has given some insight to the matter at hand. She said, “The reason I let students in the library is because we need help. The office also uses students to help them out with their work around their office. I use the students to help keep the library organized so the students who rely on my library get what they are looking for in a book or a magazine.” Mrs. Cannon has also been recruiting some students to help her around the library. She explains how to become a library helper, “The way I recruit library helpers is that the students must have a free period in their schedule or have nothing to do. The students are not exempt from any class or semester test,” says Mrs. Cannon.
A helper in the library who wished to remain anonymous gave some insight to the matter at hand. They said, “I believe that being a library helper is an important job and it requires a lot of patience to be able to do the job properly.” T hey believe that the importance of the library security is the best part of the job and it seems that the helpers are in it for the long run. They also said,”The security in the library is the most important thing along with organization and cleanliness. The library has to be cleaned and organized everyday so the books are easier to find or track down.” The library is a sacred place for some people and we of the Searcy High School Lion Press believe it should stay a sacred place for the students to be able to enjoy their peace and quiet so that they may also enjoy the happiness that comes with reading a book in peace and quiet and at your own pace.
