 HOMECOMING SWEETHEARTS AND ROYALTY: There will be a mandatory meeting for all homecoming sweethearts and royalty (not escorts) on Tuesday, Sept. 10th at 7:30 health room 534 to discuss all homecoming events and procedures.

 

JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Jostens will be on campus Monday, Sept 9th for their ring presentation to the junior class during 1st period, and senior information during 2nd period.

They will also be on campus from 8am to 4pm, in room 306 on Sept 12th taking senior orders and will return, during lunch only, on Sept 13th for any additional orders.

ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATH AND SCIENCE (ASMSA):will be here to present about their program on September 12 at 9:00 a.m. Please sign up in the Guidance Center if you would like to attend. Open to 9th and 10th grades only

THE HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION NATIONAL AND STATE SCHOLARSHIPS are now available to for application. You must have at least a 2.0 GPA and require financial assistance to attend college. To learn more and apply, visit scholars.horatioalger.org 

 

NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP :Starting Monday 9/9/19, juniors interested in qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship may sign up in the Guidance Center for the PSAT/NMSQT.  The date for this year’s exam is Wednesday, Oct. 16, and the fee for this exam is $18 per student (students may pay with cash or check).  

ESPORTS: The first meeting of the year will be Thursday September 5th in Room 111. Any student interested in joining should be there. The two available games this season are League of Legends and Rocket League.”

 

THE ADMISSION STAFFS of Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford invite seniors who are interested in their Exploring College Options programs to join them in Little Rock on September 12.  The events will include brief slide presentations describing each of the institutions and will also provide up-to date information about selection practices, financial aid opportunities, and other issues related to selective college admissions.  The website to RSVP is www.exploringcollegeoptions.org.  Interested students can check with the Guidance Center for further details.  

 

oROTC: Anyone interested in getting information regarding ROTC opportunities in college needs to stop by the Guidance Center and sign up by September 6.

HENDRIX: Any student who is interested in speaking with the Hendrix recruiter needs to sign up in the Guidance Center by September 19.   
THE SHS FOOD PANTRY IS OPEN!  Don’t go hungry over the weekend.  Talk to any teacher or come to Mrs. Edelmann’s room (204) or Mrs. Joyner’s room (321) to pick up a food pack. We have them ready for you!!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

FTA: Students may begin signing up for Future Teachers of America on Monday, August 19 in Mrs. Cook’s room, 110. Any student, grades 9-12, are welcome to join. Dues are $5.00. The first meeting will be Sept. 20th

 

FCCLA: Members attending FCCLA/FFA fair day need to stop by and pick up permission slips by Friday 6th.

 
STUDENT COUNCIL:9th grade students interested in running for student council need to get a petition and form from their Tessera teacher, Mrs. Edelmann in room 204, or Mrs. Joyner in room 321.  These MUST be turned in by Friday, September 6 by 3:15 to Mrs. Edelmann in room 204.  Elections will take place on Friday, September 13.

 

FRENCH HONORARY: Students in French honorary need to come by Ms. McCready’s room (301) to pick up an information sheet and pay dues (5$)

SPANISH CLUB: members need to vote for Sweetheart before Friday, September 6.  You must have paid your $5 dues for this year.  The first meeting is 7:30 am, Tuesday, September 10 in Miss Haynes’ room.

BETA CLUB: Beta Club dues are $15 and are due by Friday, September 13th. Beta members must pay dues to be considered active members for the 2019-2020 school year. 

SPANISH HONORARY dues must be paid by Friday, Sept 6.
