How the Marvel Cinematic Universe Turned the Public Perception of Film Upside down

SEARCY, Ar. (LP) — With the cinematic debut of the conclusion to the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) franchise, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, having released during April of this year the legacy of a series, adored by many fans not only for the excellent writing but also for the pizzazz that the actors bring to their roles, has been brought to an end.

Throughout the twenty plus films in the series, some actors were able to carry out the best roles in their careers and many fans had their heartstrings tugged at continuously. For all of this, the MCU has staked a claim in the vast world of film media. Not to mention the twenty-two and a half billion dollars that all of the films made at the global box office.

Though that is not to say that there weren’t ups and downs in terms of overall objective quality. The phase one movies were pretty incoherent, but when The Avengers came out it was popular enough to put these movies on the map despite how cheesy and bad it was from an objective critical standpoint. Phase two was better but only because it had Guardians of the Galaxy. Other than that, we were faced with mediocrities and atrocities like Age of Ultron and Thor: the Dark World though the second phase is where the movies start developing their talent for character writing. Finally, phase three was the longest phase and was where the MCU peaked Civil War , Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Homecoming, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War and more all of these movies were hits in theaters and fans even say that Avengers 3 is one of the best movies ever made alongside the likes of The Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather and given about 50 years time scholars may be talking about it like these to.

But with the introductory movie of one last character Captain Marvel, which on its own merit was pretty mediocre and stigmatized for some previous insensitive statements from the main character’s actor, the MCU was ready to end phase three with possibly the most hyped movie in quite possibly the entire history of theatrical film making. Avengers: Endgame closed out the MCU Infinity saga with a spectacle of epic proportion and while the internet and people close to me (the author) say that Endgame wasn’t objectively as good as Infinity war, what was going to top something that has the merit to be viewed as the classics that are discussed in film schools to this day are.

Nonetheless, Marvel put superhero movies back on the map with these films and also reignited interest in their comics. It forced the public all over the world to fondly recall the 1980’s and 90’s, a simpler time and I’m sure that it has touched the hearts of many in plenty of other ways.
