Searcy, AR. (LP) – It’s not every day that the people of Searcy hear of a new local magician in their very own hometown. Matthew Seibert has been making big moves with his magic skills within Searcy and Little Rock. He has obtained gigs from the Dacq Shack, Christmas 4 Kids, and even Rock House. He has been rescheduled every other Saturday by Dacq Shacq and is currently setting up a schedule with Rock House. Seibert started getting recognition after posting numerous videos of him doing magic tricks in all sorts of places such as Walmart, JC Penneys, and even church. Although, what really got him out there was him posting videos of himself doing magic on his Facebook page and his own Facebook group, “Searcy News You Should Know (SNYSK)”. Seibert’s son, Tristan Seibert stated, “It’s been great seeing all the positive feedback of my dad finally getting the recognition he deserved after many long years. It is awesome getting to see the joy it puts on my dad’s face.”  

Seibert has been partaking in magic since he was around seven years old. Seibert’s childhood wasn’t the easiest. As a distraction from the hard times, him and his brother would do magic. “My brother and I did lots of magic as kids to help us escape from all the bad things happening in my family. I still do a card trick we made up in honor of my brother who passed away,” says Seibert.

Although he has been doing magic on and off throughout his life, he has recently picked it back up and is much more serious about it. Seibert makes time in his busy schedule to practice his tricks or come up with new ones every day. The tricks he his able to perform range from card tricks, mind reading tricks, levitating tricks, and many more impressive ones. 

“There is always room for improvement,” explains Seibert. “That is why I have my son record me performing my own tricks. I can go back and watch them and see what I need to work on. I also walk around doing magic in public places to see how people will react to my tricks.”

Being a magician may seem fun and easy to most people, but people often don’t see the challenging side to it. 

“Although my dad already does a great job at it, I think he could always work on being better at talking with the audience. The most challenging part of being a magician for my dad is not the magic itself but being able to keep the audience hooked and not have them bored,” says Tristan Seibert.

The magician himself believes the most challenging part is the exact opposite. “Everywhere I go, everybody wants me to do magic tricks. There are some days where I get ‘magiced’ out. There are times where I need to step back from magic and just relax.”

While his side job in magic is just launching off, Seibert already has big dreams that his magic career will take him far.
