Searcy, AR (LP) — When it comes to thoughts and opinions we all tend to have one. No matter what the topic is about we all have an opinion on it. In this situation we all have an opinion on which one we like more, Schoology or Google Classroom. Google Classroom is a program that Searcy High School has used before the pandemic. In the beginning of this school year we started using Schoology. It was a weird switch from Google classroom to a different program that offers the same material. We noticed that a lot of people, not only students, but teachers too have had troubles switching and trying to adjust to the new program.
Teachers have found it more difficult to do a lot of things on Schoology. Teacher says, “Schoology has made things a lot more difficult. With grading, posting assignments, even posting news.” Teachers have found it hard to keep track of grading and what students have submitted. But when it came to Google Classroom all teachers would have to do was look and see who submitted. All teachers have found pros and cons with both Google Classroom and Schoology, but a lot of teachers have found more cons with Schoology than Google Classroom. But not everything about Schoology is bad. A teacher announces, “Schoology isn’t all bad. It’s basically the same program as Google Classroom but with Schoology it’s just more clicking. Schoology also does grades for us we just have to double check, but we also did that in Google Classroom.” Even though Schoology may seem like it’s a lot harder to use, 2 out of 5 teachers just thought it was more clicking than anything.
Everyone has an opinion on which one is better, Schoology or Google Classroom. Not only teachers but students too. We both get two different setups with what the screen looks like and what all we can get into. Students have found it more difficult to use Schoology because of the changes it had from Google Classroom. Everyone at Searcy High School is still adjusted and trying to figure out how to use Schoology. Over the most part, a lot of students and staff would much prefer Google Classroom. But the more we learn about how to use Schoology the more simple it gets. So who knows we all might start liking Schoology more than Google Classroom soon.
