Junior high track has its first meet

The junior high track team had their first meet Tuesday and is confident for their upcoming season.

“I think our track team because we got some pretty good people and we are gonna come in at first,” said 8th grader Neil O’Malley.

“I think our junior high track team this year is pretty good. Overall I think we will have a lot of success with our first place winners,” said 8th grader Da’Quan Johnson.

Although the teammates competed in many events, there are certain events that they were especially excited for.

“My favorite event is the 400 meter dash, cause you got a lot  of fast people and you get to see who is the fastest,” said O’Malley

“My favorite event is the 200 meter dash because you have to be pretty fast for it and you get to run,” said Johnson.

“My favorite is the 100 meter dash because the people are really fast,” says 8th grader Sandre Perrkins.

By sticking together the team hopes to excel this season in track.

“They have really good runners and I just like them,” said junior Allie Thomas.

“They’re great, and really helpful to everybody and they cheer each other on all the time, just a great group of people,” said Perrkins.

The next 9th grade track meet is Tuesday at Heber Springs.
