Many fans of the book “The Hunger Games” eagerly anticipated the movie recently released. Many theaters played a midnight showing. Personally, I took time from my sleep to watch this movie and it was worth it. The movie was quite shaky at first, but the main point, coming from the view of Katniss Everdeen, was plainly stated. Many people were pleased with the movie, including me. Reading the book would always give more detail, but the movie did a good job all together.
Josh Hutcherson played Peeta Mellark very well. He fit the description of Peeta, and he is exactly like I imagined Peeta would actually look like. His acting was very believable and his fear could be felt in the audience. Even when Peeta’s character faked feelings it was believable.
Jennifer Lawrence, Katniss Everdeen, fit her character’s description as well. Her long brown braid and her clothing styles represented her District 12 look. Her attitude towards her situation was played out perfectly.
Liam Hemsworth, Gale Hawthorne, took on his role in representing taking care of Katniss’ family with pride. Gale works in the mine, and is a family friend of the Everdeen family. Gale is not mentioned in the movie as much as the book.
Fans have resorted to a Twilight trend in choosing different guys from the “love triangle” that is Katniss, Peeta, and Gale.”Team Peeta” and “Team Gale” are quickly trending among teenagers for who Katniss should choose. Personally, my opinion is “Team Peeta” because from reading the book, Peeta and Katniss seem like a perfect match, even though Katniss can not deny some feelings she has for Gale.
I’m sure the set directors for this movie had a tough time making a set for the arena. The set they produced matched closely the arena from the book.
The scene where Katniss and Peeta were in the cave, and Katniss was helping Peeta’s leg was my favorite scene. The cave they hid in fit the description from the book.
Towards the end of the movie more events were left out than actually happened in the book, but to personally understand you must read the book and watch the movie. I recommend both.
