Baseball team heads to playoffs

The Searcy Lion baseball team has had a great season, so far and there are many factors that play into that.

“We’ve got a solid defense. We’re starting to hit the ball,” says Junior Colby Crossen.

But hitting isn’t the only thing that helps the Lions win games.

“I think our pitching leads the way. Mainly in Reed Haggard, he’s pretty much the stud out there. I look up to him,” says Junior Joe Formel.

Formel says that only one thing inspires him while he’s on the mound.

“When I’m out there pitching, the only thing I think about is Doc Watson’s beard; blowing in the wind, telling me what to do. It just speaks to me,” claims Formel.

The Lions have great hopes for the season, and they believe they can go far.

“I think our team will be able to go all the way this year,” says Formel. “I think we’ll be able to go to the championship game, and finally be able to shut it out.”

“I think we’ve got a lot of heart this year and we want it this year, I really think we do,” says Crossen.
