Lions scrimmage against Lakeside Rams

To get ready for the upcoming football season, the Hot Springs Lakeside Rams came to scrimmage the Lions. The scrimmage followed the Lionfest activities Tuesday, Aug. 21.

“The scrimmage was really exciting to watch because it got everyone pumped for football season,” Searcy fan, Kristen Meeker said. “Everyone was excited for Lionfest so most of the student body was there to support the team.”

The Lions kept up a good game with the Rams playing tough and pulled through with a win to start off the season

The game didn’t officially count, but it was good practice for the team.

“I wasn’t really nervous about playing Searcy,” Lakeside football player, Logan Nelson said. “I was upset that we lost, but who wouldn’t be?”

Nelson said he had a great attitude about the game, and he played really hard for his team, but they didn’t come out on top.

“It was great to get some practice in before the real season starts,” said Nelson.

Jeffrey Oest, Searcy football player, said that the game against Lakeside was challenging, but since they pulled out a win, Coach Harper was pretty happy.

Many Searcy fans and students who attended Lionfest stayed for the scrimmage so the team had a good crowd cheering them on.
