Tennis team shows talent early in season

The tennis team, coached by Miles Watson, is off to a great start this fall season.

Tennis player, Stephen Hoffman said the season is going really well so far.

“It’s during the fall semester and we’ve been practicing a lot and gradually getting better,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said he has been playing tennis since he was little.

“My parents used to take me to play with my brother and sister,” he said.

Tennis can be played in singles or with partners. Hoffman plays both, and his partner is Landon Ashby when he plays doubles.

Partners Sydni Woodard and Morgan Stanley are working hard for this season.

“A friend asked me to go to a tennis lesson with her when I was in eighth grade, and I haven’t put down a racket since,” Woodard said

“The team is made up of committed tennis lovers who give their all to the team.”

Both the boys and girls teams are undefeated so far.

“I expect great things from this season,” Woodard said. “The girls team has a really good chance of taking state this year, and I think we can do it if we work hard.”
