Teachers expect another great school year

When students arrive on campus, most are unaware of what teachers have been doing to prepare.

Sophomore English teacher, Jaime Brown said teachers have to do lots of things to prepare for the school year.

“We have to go to lots of meetings, and then in our own classrooms we have to decorate and make copies and plan, so it’s a really busy week back for us,” Brown said.

Along with preparations, teachers must have the right attitude about the new year and this includes new teachers.

New biology teacher, Allen Fairbanks feels like he has even more to do.

“I’m meeting the students and getting to be a part of the community, and see what all goes on here in Searcy,” Fairbanks said.

The social studies department is also gearing up for a new class

“We’re going to be offering economics, which will also be a semester course, so the social studies department has been very busy planning and preparing for these courses, ” teacher Beverly Joyner said.

Some teachers are just as excited as the students about the new year.

“My favorite part about the beginning of the school year is that all my students are really excited about learning Spanish, and we have a lot of fun,” Spanish teacher, Wendy Cunningham, said.

Teachers and students both have survived the beginning of the year and are anticipating the rest of the school year to come.
