Students have a great time at demo day

Demo Day allows drama students to tryout many types for dramatic forms, from improv to reader’s theatre.

“It was pretty fun, though some parts I almost fell asleep on,” said freshman John Washam. “But all and all, it was pretty cool.”
But those who attended this event, were almost afraid it wouldn’t happen.

“I got here at like 7:05 this morning and had to wait an hour for the bus to get here,” said Washam. “Then we had to ride it for two long hours just to get where we were.”

The bus showed up an hour later than they had expected.

“I showed up at like 7, and I had to wait like an hour and 15 minutes before the bus was even here, because the guy like fell asleep or something,” said Jack Steward.

“It wasn’t too stressful, but we did expect the bus to be here at 7:30,” said Taylor. “There was some kind of communication error, but we got that all sorted out. I got a hold of Mr.G., and he arrived about 15 minutes after I got in contact with him.”

Taylor believes that Demo Day is an enriching way to teach her students how they will preform in tournaments they will compete in later this year.

“Demo Day allows students to see the performances of all the different events that they can compete in at tournaments,” Taylor said. “It allows them to have someone to have explain the events to them other than me so that they can understand how to get ranked and go on to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at tournaments.”

Although the students enjoyed most all of the events put on at Demo Day, some of them stuck out more to them than others.

“I really liked the group singing that they were doing out there on stage,” junior Derek Staggs said. “They really rocked that.”

Another student really enjoyed the vocal performances.

“It was probably the singing. They were just coordinated and goofy,” said Steward. “It was hilarious.”

And others, they saw themselves competing in, throughout the rest of they year.

“The one I would probably compete in is the poetry, because I’m really good at being very animated,” said Steward.

Staggs said he would go it alone in the next competition.

“If I had to go with anything, I probably have to go with a solo, because I can kind of plan that out,” said Staggs.

Over all, Demo Day did a great job at teaching the students how they’d compete in the tournaments.
