English classes preview ‘Aladdin’

Aladdin crew previewed their play to most of the English classes before the full nighttime performances.

“I liked it. I thought it was one of the best ones they have put on so far,” said senior Anna Barns.

The cast included 36 actors who performed parts of the play for the students.

“For the most part, it went smoothly, but we had a lot of trouble with the magic carpet and the set changes,” said Freshman Jessica Reynolds. “But, in the end, everybody really came together and make the show great.”

Drama teacher Mandy Taylor and her cast worked very hard on the play.

“Everyone who watched it told me they enjoyed it,” said Taylor. “The students were very proud of the work they did,”

Students also enjoyed the performance.

“My favorite part was when the genie popped out of the lamp,” said Barns.

Though the actors did play a huge part of the play preview, the people who worked on the set and the lighting crew played a huge part too.

“The play went well, better than I thought it would,” said freshman Payton Bangs  who was on the sound/lighting crew.

Though the show itself was a success a lot of the work toward the production happened behind the curtains.Warm-ups, set making, and costume production all contributed toward the play.

“Setting up for the play was enjoyable,” said Taylor, “My dad is a carpenter. So, any time I get to follow in his foot steps is a good experience.”

The actors practiced weeks and weeks for the previews. One of the actors however, only had a day or two to learn their lines.

Neal Zeringue as the genie had to learn  his lines at a quick pace because the previous actor was not available.
