Homecoming traditions excite students

Tradition is a big part of homecoming festivities at Searcy High School and this year the events of Oct. 5 followed the same plan: Sweetheart assembly in the afternoon, football game in the evening.

Sophomore Rivers Ridout enjoyed the tradition as an escort for one of the  club sweethearts.

“It was exciting. It was cool to see everyone dressed up, looking fly, getting ready for homecoming night, getting ready for the game,” Ridout said. “It was fun.”

The dance team, the choir, and the cheerleaders all preformed at the assembly.

Sophomore and cheerleader Angel Breaux said her favorite part of homecoming is seeing all her friends dressed up.

“(I like) watching all my friends in homecoming court, and seeing them all dressed up,” Breaux said. “At homecoming, when I’m cheering, it’s fun to see all the people, that come out to support the Lions, all dressed up.”

This year’s homecoming queen, the football team choose, senior Lauren Wright.

All of homecoming was a success. Despite the rain, all the festivities went well.

Ridout thinks that the game is going to be tough on the Lions.

“They are a talented team, but I think that if we play with the best of our ability, we can come out on top,” said Ridout.

Ridout was right. The Lions beat Marion for the first time in several years, 17-0
