Lion TV and Jumpstart this year have been part of \u00a0PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs, doing interviews and stories for a chance to be shown on PBS NewsHour. The students have interviewed state representatives and even Governor Mike Beebe. Recently, they did a story on the new teaching standards that come with Common Core and interviewed teachers on their opinions of the new rules.

<\/p>\n

The team has worked on several “Rapid Response” questions that require a quick turnaround of interviews. These have included questions about education, the new Comon Core standards and questions for the Pakistani student, Malala. The students recently completed a documentary: Made in America: jobs and factory closings in Searcy that has been submitted to AETN and PBS NewsHour for airing.
