Searcy (LP) Thanksgiving is this Thursday. It is perfect for bringing family and friends together and to give thanks to God for everything. It is a day of giving thanks for what you are most grateful. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thanksgiving firsted started with Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians. They shared an autumn harvest feast that is now known as Thanksgiving. The feast lasted for three day, but now we celebrate it for just one day. In 1863, during the civil war Abraham Lincoln declared a national day of Thanksgiving and Praise to God. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are many different ways how this holiday brings families together. One way is family traditions. Another way is having a big thanksgiving dinner and communicating with each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wesson\u2019s family tradition is after dinner they sit in the living room and talk about anything.\u201cWe go over my grandma\u2019s house. My aunts, uncles, and cousins come over and eat dinner and before we eat we say what we are most thankful.\u201d- Will SHS freshman. He always says that he is thankful for being alive on this day. \u00a0He never brings friends over for Thanksgiving. \u00a0\u201cI think Thanksgiving is a time to be with your family and not with friends because you see your friends everyday at school and after school. When you hang out with your friends you hardly have time for your family.\u201d \u201cWhen we talk and bond is how Thanksgiving brings my family together, but everyday of the year we are together so it is not just Thanksgiving.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hughey family tradition is to eat dinner together. \u201c I love eating dinner with my family on Thanksgiving day.\u201d-Marissa. She never brings friends over for Thanksgiving. \u201cThanksgiving brings me and my family by after eating the food we talk and watch Thanksgiving specials on TV\u201d\u00a0<\/span>” Cherish this day with your family because it might be your last day with them”<\/p>\n
