STUDENT BODY OFFICER ELECTIONS<\/b> for the 2017-18 school year are coming up soon. We will elect Student Council President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian in April. Petitions may be picked up from Mrs. Jones on\u00a0Monday, March 27th\u00a0(the day we return from Spring Break) and are due by that\u00a0Friday, April 3rd. This election is only for overall <\/span><\/p>\n

JOSTENS SENIOR ITEMS : <\/b>will \u00a0be delivered\u00a0Monday, March 13.\u00a0 Jostens Rep will be in the cafeteria to deliver the senior items ordered during 1st period.\u00a0 You should have received a notification regarding any balance owing on your items and you must bring that payment with you on that day.\u00a0 Items will not be delivered to you until all balance owing is paid.\u00a0 If you have any questions, see Ms. Daves in the East office. \u00a0<\/span>SENIORS WILL BE CALLED TO THE CAFETERIA BY ALL-CALL WHEN WE ARE READY.<\/span><\/p>\n

GOLF TRYOUTS:<\/b> Tryouts for the 2017 Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be\u00a0May 15th-17th\u00a0at\u00a03:30\u00a0at Searcy Country Club.\u00a0 Students must have a current physical to tryout.\u00a0 Students can sign up and pick up an information sheet in Coach Turney’s room (117).\u00a0 There will be a\u00a0<\/span>MANDATORY<\/b>\u00a0meeting for all students trying out on\u00a0Wednesday, May 10th at 3:15\u00a0in Coach Turney’s room.\u00a0 You\u00a0<\/span>MUST\u00a0<\/b>sign up, have a physical, return the information sheet, and attend the meeting in order to tryout.<\/span><\/p>\n

BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:<\/b> \u00a0Tryouts for the 2017-2018 SHS Sr. Boys’ basketball team for\u00a0<\/span>NON-SPRING SPORT ATHLETES<\/b>\u00a0will be\u00a0March 27th-31st\u00a0at\u00a03:15\u00a0in the Annex gym.\u00a0 Tryouts for all spring sport athletes will be on\u00a0May 18th-19th\u00a0at\u00a03:15\u00a0in the Main gym.\u00a0 Any student who wishes to tryout must sign up with Coach White and have a current physical.\u00a0 For more information see Coach White or Coach Turney.<\/span><\/p>\n

VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS:<\/b> Volleyball tryouts for girls entering grades 10-12 will be on\u00a0March 13th and 14th\u00a0at the annex gym from\u00a03:30-5:00.\u00a0 Informational packets will be available for pick up in the East office starting\u00a0February 27th.<\/span><\/p>\n

CHEER AND LION STEPPER TRYOUTS<\/b>: Cheer and Lionstepper Tryouts will be held April 3rd through the 7th. <\/span><\/p>\n

A mandatory meeting will be held for all interested girls and one parent Tuesday, March 14th at <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>5:30 pm \u00a0in the Main Gym. <\/span>All candidates must sign the list in the East or West Office. <\/span><\/i>Contact Ms. Cramblett or Ms. Simpson if you have any questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

SHS PROM CLOSET<\/b>–Searcy High School Prom Closet will hold its shopping day on\u00a0<\/span> Tuesday, March 28<\/b>th<\/b>.\u00a0 SHS students who are attending the SHS Prom and would like to take advantage of the free service are invited to visit the Prom Closet from\u00a03:15-5:00 P.M.\u00a0on the third floor of the SHS PAC. Inventory consists of prom items for females such as dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry, and we also have a small inventory of men\u2019s suits and ties. You can see the items in the prom closet before you go shop. Look for posters and flyers in the halls with the address<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0 Students may also sign up at this time for hair and makeup services on the day of the prom. CLINICAL APPLICATIONS: <\/b>The application for Clinical Internship is now available in the Guidance Center. \u00a011th grade students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA to apply.\u00a0 Deadline to return application materials to the Guidance Center is\u00a0March 30.<\/span><\/p>\n

HONOR GRADUATES<\/b>: All Searcy High School honor graduates and their parents should have received an email with information regarding the 2017 Honor Graduate video. Pictures are due by\u00a0Tuesday, March 14, 2017\u00a0to Mrs. Betsy Bailey. You may email Mrs. Bailey at\u00a0<\/span>bbailey@searcyschools.org<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or leave the photos in the EAST office at Searcy High School.<\/span><\/p>\n

SCHOLARSHIPS:<\/b><\/p>\n

ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP<\/b>: The Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers, Central Chapter is now accepting applications for their annual scholarship.\u00a0 They award two $1000 scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Central Arkansas that intend to earn a degree in engineering from an accredited university.\u00a0 Other qualifications are as stated on the application.\u00a0 Interested students can pick up an application in the Guidance Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

FISHING CLUB:<\/b> Fishing Club members who plan to enter tournaments will meet next\u00a0Thursday, March 16, at\u00a07:00pm\u00a0in room 320 (Mrs. Jones’s room). Competitive club members, their parents, and boat captains should plan to attend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
