JOSTENS:<\/b> Jostens representatives will be on campus March 11th to deliver graduation items that have already been placed.\u00a0 If you have not ordered a cap\/gown or other items, you may go to Jostens.com to place\u00a0an order<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>THE SHS PARTNER’S CLUB WILL HOST OUR ANNUAL\u00a0SPREAD THE WORD: INCLUSION\u00a0CAMPAIGN:<\/b> Wednesday, March 4th, during both lunches tomorrow. We will have a banner to sign and wrist bands to give our to everyone that makes the pledge! The\u00a0<\/span>Spread the Word: Inclusion\u00a0<\/b>campaign invites all people to commit to individual acts of inclusion.\u00a0 The campaign<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>highlights divisions that have led to social isolation and exclusion among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

VARSITY CHEERLEADER AND LIONSTEPPER TRYOUTS<\/b>: There will be sign up sheets in the east and west offices for girls interested in trying out for varsity cheer and Lionsteppers.\u00a0 There will be a mandatory meeting for all candidates and one parent on Tuesday, March 10th at 5:30 in the main gym.\u00a0 See Coach Simpson or Coach Cramblett for more details<\/span><\/p>\n

CONGRATULATIONS<\/b> to the Searcy High Chess Team!\u00a0 They competed in the Hot Springs Regional Tournament at ASMSA on\u00a0Saturday and placed 3rd.\u00a0 State Tournament will be April 11 at North Little Rock.<\/span><\/p>\n

CITY LEAGUE BASEBALL SIGN UPS :<\/b> 15 years old and younger can participate. You can sign up in person at the Carmichael Center on March 3rd and 5th or online at\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/www.searcyrecreationalsportsleague.org<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

THE\u00a0<\/b>ARKANSAS ASSOCIATION OF CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATORS<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>(AACTEA)<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>is offering\u00a0<\/span>two\u00a0<\/span>AACTEA Scholarship to\u00a0<\/span>high\u00a0<\/span>school seniors to supplement education costs\u00a0<\/span>beginning\u00a0<\/span>their freshman year.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The scholarship awards\u00a0<\/span>are\u00a0<\/span>$500.00 each for\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>first\u00a0<\/span>academic year,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>and will\u00a0<\/span>be\u00a0<\/span>awarded\u00a0<\/span>to full-time or part-time\u00a0<\/span>students who enroll\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>an Arkansas college or university<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>including\u00a0<\/span>junior colleges, community colleges, and vocational or\u00a0<\/span>technical\u00a0<\/span>colleges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligibility requirements include:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Concentrator or Completer status on at least one Program of Study<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Having a minimum\u00a0<\/span>grade point average of 3.0 on a\u00a0<\/span>4.0\u00a0<\/span>grading scale<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Exhibiting a good citizenship record with no suspensions or expulsions<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Attempted or achieved an industry certification (ex CRC, OSHA, MTA)<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Planning to major in\u00a0<\/span>a demand occupation (listed on Discover Arkansas)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Interested seniors may pick up information in the Guidance Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

    THE ERNEST WHITELAW-DON KINNEY SCHOLARSHIP<\/b> application is now available and the deadline to apply is April 10.\u00a0\u00a0In order to be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must be of documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe. The documentation required is a CDIB (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood) card or tribal enrollment documentation from a federal recognized tribe. A copy must be furnished with the application.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Applications and further information can be picked up in the Guidance Center.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    MCLARTY DRIVES EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP<\/b> applications are currently available for seniors.\u00a0 Students must be legal Arkansas residents over the age of 15, scheduled to enroll in an institution of post-secondary education during the 2020-2021 school year and have a 3.0 GPA.\u00a0 \u00a0Other details are provided on the informational flyer.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Interested students can pick up further information in the Guidance Center.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:<\/b> Attention all current 9-11th grade girls interested in trying out\u00a0 for the high school basketball team: Tryouts will be held in the annex gym March 30-31 3:30-5:00. All students\u2019 interested need to fill out the tryout form found in both offices or from Coach Sitzmann. All needed information is found on the tryout form. You will have up until the start of day 1 of tryouts to turn in your forms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    SHS PROM CLOSET:<\/b> SHS Students attending the SHS prom and would like to take advantage of the new or gently worn prom dresses, men\u2019s suites\/ties, shoes, purses and jewelry are invited to visit the SHS Prom Closet on the designated shopping days. Students may also sign up for the cosmetic services offered on the day of the prom at the Searcy High School Performing Arts Center makeup room. The shopping days for the prom closet will be Tuesday, March 10<\/span>th<\/span> and Wednesday, April 8<\/span>th<\/span> Searcy High School Performing Arts Center- 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Floor. 3:05-5:00 P.M.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span>UNITY\u00a0 HEALTH CAMP: <\/b>Unity Health will offer a free summer enrichment program designed to inform students about medical careers.\u00a0 This camp is for rising 11th and 12th graders and will run June 15-19.\u00a0 Interested students can pick up more information in the Guidance Center.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM<\/b>: The 2020 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $12.000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community\/junior College or career school. It’s quick and easy to apply: Long on to <\/span>www.student-view.com<\/span><\/a> and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The winner will be announced in May, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n
