Chess Club meets for competition, fun

Chess club is one of these unfamiliar groups. Each member has their different reason for joining the club.

“I wanted a hobby after school, because I was really bored after school,” senior Joshua Lovitt explained.

“I’ve just been playing it all of my life so I just thought that it would be fun,” sophomore Hunter Birdsong said.

Many of the player have many year of experience, in the game of chess.

“I’ve been playing for about six years,” Lovitt stated.

“I’ve been playing for about five or six years,” Birdsong explained.

“I’ve been playing since I was about seven years old, ” sophomore Joy Wooley said.

Wooley enjoys the social aspect of the Chess club.

“It is nice to meet new people, connect with other players and learn new tricks,” she explained.

Chess club practices after school every Wednesday.
