
The Government Shutdown
The U.S. government shutdown has finally come to an end with it lasting for 43 days which is the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. The shutdown started on October 1 and lasted till November 12, 2025.
The shutdown came to be due to the Republican-led House and the Democratic-led Senate disagreed over a spending bill. Democrats opposed the bill because it did not extend expanded Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits. But now the shutdown has finally ended after the Senate passed a revised bill, which the House and President Donald Trump also approved.

But during the Goverment shutdown many were impacted, with about 900,000 federal employees were temporarily sent home without pay, and another two million had to work without being paid. While some agencies like the Department of Defense stayed open, others, such as the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were partially or fully closed. – A SHS student stated that he had “no clue that this was happening so I’m pretty surprised.”
– Another SHS student says she knew what was going on and that she had a friend who was affected by this. She also said that she was so glad that it was finally over with.
White House Uses Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Juno’ Song for ICE Deportation Video

Sabrina Carpenter slammed the white house for using her music without her permission. She responded on Tuesday to a video from the White House’s official X account, which used her viral track “Juno” to soundtrack an Immigration and Customs Enforcement video. The 21-second montage, posted on Monday, shows ICE agents chasing and handcuffing people as Carpenter’s famous lyric, “Have you ever tried this one?” loops in the background of the video.

The white house then proceeds to respond to Sabrina with a reference to her two-time Grammy-winning album Short n’ Sweet, “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country.”
But the white house didn’t stop ther they also reference lyrics from Carpenter’s 2025 single “Manchild”, adding “Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”

-A SHS student said that “ I saw a video on TikTok about this, saying that they were using her song for a video of ice arresting someone and it was just so digusting. I can’t believe it!!.”
– Another SHS student says she was so disgusted by how they used her song Juno for suh a horrible and inhuman video. She also said that “Aren’t we all immigrint? And aren’t trumps also one as well?! This is wrong and just so disgusting!!”
-Another SHS student added that she is a huge fan of Sabrina Carpenter and she was so angry and pissed off when she saw they used her song.
