With much anticipation from many music listeners, Deadbeat Tame Impala’s 5th studio album reached top pre-saved album status by spotify users last month. Kevin Parker released three singles throughout the fall, Starting with End of Summer, Loser, Dracula.

Now many may not know what Tame Impala is, The solo music project of Australian artist Kevin Parker who writes, records, and produces all of his music by himself. Since starting the project in 2007, Parker has become popular for combining psychedelic rock, pop, and electronic sounds into something entirely his own. Throughout his career he has many achievements with appearing on SNL, Collaboration with Rihanna & Travis Scott, Appearing on Family guy and his music appearing in multiple films, Barbie, DND, Minions, etc.

His earlier albums like Lonerism and Currents helped define a new wave of psychedelic music, with songs such as “The Less I Know the Better” achieving 2,136,197,928 streams on Spotify. Over time, Tame Impala’s sound has evolved from guitar based psych rock to more polished, electronic, and rhythm-focused production, a shift that continues with the album Deadbeat.

On 18 July 2025, the first appearance of the album was shown on Tame Impala’s webstore for pre-order. Later being followed by the second single “Loser”. The music video starred actor “Joe Keery” known for his presence in Stranger Things. The third single Dracula was released on 26th of September following multiple teasers on Instagram & Tiktok.

Deadbeat’s music style redefined his genre swapping from psychedelic, popdisco, progressive pop, soft rock. To an Electronic, dance, psychedelia genre. The album opens with amazing synths and hypnotic basslines, having a tone that’s both euphoric and melancholy, a familiar Tame Impala style however pushed boundaries into new territory. Parker’s production feels tighter and cleaner than The Slow Rush, replacing its dreamy nostalgia with pulsing club energy.

With a redefining of tame impala’s genre mixed reactions have been received by many fans of his. While some criticized this album, many fans enjoyed it.
