In the streets of LA, you can find different characters, but never a character quite like Red Gatling.
Gatling’s passion for music is visible in the way he walks, talks, and of course, the way he plays his guitar.
“Music is everything,” he said. “Music is way of releasing tension. It’s also a way of expressing oneself. It’s also a way of getting a message across.”
Gatling has been playing for 35 years and possesses a passion for music that can hardly be matched.
“You can move the world with music; that’s music to me,” Gatling said.
Taking pride in his playing only provides Gatling with so much satisfaction; his true passion is in his writing.
“I would never let someone write my songs,” explained Gatling.
Playing music on the streets doesn’t offer a lot of money, but his expectations are optimistic, to say the least.
“My expectation is to exceed Eddy Van Halen and his performance on lead guitar,” stated Gatling.
Music is a way of life for Red Gatling and he will always embrace it.
“That’s music to me. It’s a political move, it can be inspirational, sentimental; all of that,” he said.
Josh Hooter once said, “I sing for the love of it, have mercy on the man who sings to be adored,” Red Gatling holds true to this.
