Justin Holtz signs to play baseball at Drury

Senior Justin Holtz recently got signed on to play baseball at Drury University.

“We went up for a prospect showcase game…and the coach just started talking to me,” Holtz said.

Holtz really enjoyed the college and was excited about going back to take an in depth look.

“We went up there for a college visit and I just really liked the campus,” Holtz said.
Holtz said he had many reasons for choosing Drury as the place he would spend his college days.

“In their conference they’re the top academic school, and that was one of the big reasons I’m going there,” Holtz said.

Drury University is not well known yet though because of one vital reason.
“They are a relatively new baseball program, they just started back up…in 2004,”  Holtz added.

Holtz has a lot of love and support from his parents and coaches.

“I’m really excited about Drury,”  I think Justin is going to be a good fit for him up there,” Holtz’ father, Jeff said.

Coach Clay McCammon, baseball coach was very excited about Holtz signing for Drury.

“We’re very proud for Justin, he’s very deserving and he’s got the ability and the work ethic,” McCammon said.
Holtz says that its a relief to have this part of his senior year out of the way early.

“It’s nice to have a peace of mind and know where you’re going, and not having to worry about it,” Holtz said.  “So for my senior season I know where I’m going and I can just get out there and have fun.”

McCammon agres with this.

“I think it takes some pressure and distractions away so that he can concentrate on his senior season, and just relax and play baseball,” McCammon said.
