Senioritis is commonly used to describe a lack of motivation displayed by high school seniors.
Homework goes weeks without being done, tests are left unstudied for, and the countdown until graduation is in full swing.
Senioritis tends to cloud our minds and make us look forward to summer when all those worries will be long gone in the months of fun and carefree behavior.
The symptoms of senioritis include increased Facebook use during school hours, a dazed look in the eyes of many in the midst of math lessons, and an overall lesser quality of work handed in each day.
“I am definitely experiencing some side effects of senioritis, however I try my best everyday to accomplish all that is assigned so that I can slack later in the year,” said senior Dustin Blount.
Although many of the seniors are going through the motions, not many are disciplined enough to prioritize.
“I’ve been slacking since day one of senior year, barely scraping the plate to get by,” Halle Medley said. “I honestly can’t help it though; I’m burnt out.”
With April around the corner, the good, the bad and the lazy are scrambling to finish all college and scholarship applications.
“The process of applying for colleges can become overwhelming but very necessary especially for those who are applying for colleges out of state,” Samantha Ford said.
Although there is a lot to be done throughout senior year, there will always be this sometimes deadly disease.
