Injured players reflect on season

The Searcy High School football team has had a great season this year even though they had to overcome  injuries from some key players.

“The good thing about this year is that we had a lot of people that stepped up,” said coach Bruce Guthrie.”It’s just a matter of somebody getting another opportunity.”

A few injured players in particular found it hard being bystanders at the game.

“During the game standing on the sideline and not being able to be out there with your team is one of the hardest things I have ever had todo,” said Junior Cody Reed. “When we lost and I didn’t get to play, it broke my heart.”

Being out for Senior year was also tough for captain Mason Guthrie.

“You work your whole life to get to your senior year, it’s not fun to just sit there and watch,” said Guthrie.

Injured players however, still helped support and cheer on their team throughout the season.
