Searcy (LP) It’s already hard to get in choir and it’s even harder to make all region, but there’s something even harder than that, and that is going to state and Kama Morris was able to do that.
Kama Morris has been in choir since fifth grade, she found out that she could sing when she was little and sang in her own time but when her friends heard her sing they encourage her to try out for choir. So she mustered up the courage to try-out for the choir, and she made the 5th grade choir. Since that day she’s has made all region for five years and making all region is not an easy thing either.
The choir students also have to compete with other schools in the county and try to place in the highest chair. But this year is her first time she has made a high enough chair to try out for state. I ask her what are her feelings in being able to compete in the highest level and she said “It means a lot to me to be able to compete in state , it is incredibly rewarding, I work so hard for months preparing. And trying out against the best singers in the state, and making top ten and something incredible.”
I also ask her what something she is looking forward in state? And she said “Just being able to sing in choir with the best singers in the entire state.” Lastly I ask her what is she doing to prepare for state and she said, she’s been trying not to scream or use her voice a lot only when she practices on her vocals she’s drinks lots of water and tries not to drink drinks with caffeine. Good Luck Kama and hope you do well in state.
