Searcy (LP) Zeemee is quickly revolutionizing how colleges view their applicants. Zeemee was founded in 2014, and their mission is simple: Helping students get seen. We think all students are unique and interesting, and that when students showcase their passions, their individual strengths shine. According to the official Zeemee page, ZeeMee is a free service that gives you the ability through images and video to document your story, showcase yourself for college admissions and connect with other students based on passions and interests. The site allows other students to give user’s feedback and for the 200 plus colleges and universities that are partners to view user’s profiles.
The site is simple and easy to use. The user makes the profile, and has the opportunity to make an exclusive video about themselves, as well as add images and/or videos that depict them in their extracurricular activities or their everyday life’s. They are also able to give a brief description of these activities, including the roll they play and the time they’ve spent participating in them. After the profile is complete, the user is to attach the link to their personalized profile, to their online college application. A common concern for users is if admission officers will actually view their profiles. Zeemee assures students that they work with more than 1,500 admission officers who will do their best to contribute a quick, but powerful glance.
Zeemee is quickly affecting students here at Searcy High School. A senior, Kinley Wood, had nothing but praise to share about the site. She commented, “I believe in the message it sends- we (college applicants) deserve to be more than an ACT score, or a GPA, we deserve to have our hobbies, and all of our little quirks showcased. That’s who we really are, no test grade could ever truly define all of us.”
While Zeemee is doing nothing but good, it is important to remember that just because a user submits their finished profile, zeemee does not guarantee they will he accepted into that college. Zeemee simply promises to reward students with a more active application. It promises to showcase their hard work.
