Searcy (LP) The recruiting concert of Searcy High School was on Tuesday, February 14th. There were three groups of people in the Southwest Middle School gym on that day. They were Searcy High SchoolBand, Orchestra, and Choir respectively. The concert was one hour long and it was 9:30 to 10:30 in the morning.

This concert was very special and unique. The audience was the 5th-grade students from Southwest Middle School. The first group was 6th-grade students and they played flutophone. The Searcy High School Choir was the second one to perform. They sang five songs for students and the teacher of the choir  introduced the choir to everyone. She said that 6th-grade students can join more than one group when they are in high school. Some choir students are also in the Orchestra. Every student in the choir are very talented and have impressive voices. Orchestra was the third group to perform, the Searcy High School Orchestra taught by Mrs. Guthrie. There were more than twenty students in the high school orchestra and the most popular instruments were violin and cello. Different instrument players of orchestra introduced their instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and bass. They played five songs and three songs were from the famous movies such as Harry Potter and Disney’s movie Aladdin. The Searcy High School band was the last one to show. They have a lot more people in choir and orchestra. They played a lot of beautiful songs and made everyone excited.

The purpose of this concert was to show the 5th-grade students the different groups of music organization to help them  make a choice about which group they want to join and choose a suitable instrument for their 6th grade. Phoenix Pruitt, a fifth-grade student at Southwest middle school said “My favorite group is Orchestra because it sounds really smooth and beautiful. My sister is also in the orchestra. She plays the cello.” This was a good chance to show children about these groups in high school and it can also stimulate children’s interest in music. “This concert really impressed me and I really like how people in the orchestra played. They played fast  but very easily. I decided to choose the Viola. I really like the Violin, but the Viola sounds more smooth than the violin.”

This was a very variety concert. Each single group has their own style of music. Every 5th-grade student was excited and looking forward to the next year, and those high school students also enjoyed playing for them.
