PSAT: Any junior wanting to sign up for the PSAT in October needs to sign up in the guidance center. The test costs $16. You must have the money when you come to sign up in the guidance center. The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 8th.
COLLEGE PLANNING FOR PARENTS/STUDENTS: Glenn Dillard, Assistant VP for Enrollment Management at Harding University, will be hosting two college planning sessions for parents of high school juniors and seniors on Tuesday evening, September 19, from 7 until 8 p.m., and then again on Thursday evening, September 21, from 7 until 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the First Community Bank University Branch located at 800 E. Beebe-Capps Expressway in Searcy. I hope that many parents of your students will be able to attend one of these events. These sessions are not “come to Harding” sessions, but rather an hour when I will share very practical information on how easily one can obtain financial aid to attend a college or university of their choice.
EXPLORING EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE–a travel consortium of Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Rice University, and the University of Chicago will be in Little Rock, 7:00 p.m. September 24at the Little Rock Marriott. Prospective students and their families are welcome to attend
STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council will meet on Thursday, Sept 21st at 7:35 AM in Mrs. Jones’s room 320. This is for all members, including those student body officers elected in the spring and the newly elected class officers.
SENIOR ADS: Extra senior recognition ads are located in the offices. They are due October 1.
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS:
BETA CLUB: Our first meeting will be on September 20th.
FTA: Students in all grades may sign up for FTA in Mrs. Cook’s room starting Monday, August 21. Dues are $5.00. Information regarding club activities will also be available.
FCCLA: FCCLA is starting the collection of dues. The dues are $12.00 and can be paid to Ms. Johnston in the FACS room 104.
