ARKANSAS GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL: Timothy Purkiss, a representative from Arkansas Governor’s School (AGS) will be on campus October 19 at 9:00 a.m. He will be speaking to students who are considering applying to attend AGS this upcoming summer. All interested 11th grade students must sign up in the Guidance Center by October 17.
ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, AND THE ARTS: The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science, and the Arts will be here November 16th to present to any interested sophomore. Any sophomore interested in learning more about ASMSA and wants to attend the presentation needs to sign up in the guidance center by November 15th. A minimum GPA of 3.25 is one of the requirements for acceptance into ASMSA.
VOCAL/ CHORAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Arkansas chamber Singers Board of Directors is pleased to announce this season’s Vocal/Choral Scholarship Program for $1,000 First Place and $500 Second Place. This scholarship encourages and promotes music education in the state of Arkansas. It will be award to two Arkansas high school seniors who meets the qualifications set by the Board of Directors and be competitive with an audition process. Completed applications must be submitted postmarked no later than December 17, 2017. An audition and interview will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 beginning at 3:00 PM at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES & EARLY DISMISSAL: SHS Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 17 from 3:15p.m. to 7:15p.m. in the cafeteria. Searcy Schools will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 for Parent/Teacher Conferences, grades 4-12, and on Thursday, October 19 for Parent/Teacher Conferences, grades K-3. Parents are invited to pick up report cards and meet with teachers.
SENIORS: The Jostens Representative will be on campus 2nd period Monday, October 16 in the cafeteria to present graduation items. The representative will be back on Friday, October 20 to take orders for senior items. Friday he will be set up all day in the English Lab, room 207.
JUNIORS: The Jostens Representative will be on campus 1st period Monday, October 16 in the cafeteria to present options for class ring purchases. He will also be present Tuesday evening, October 17, during the Parent/Teacher Conferences to be available for ring sizing, questions and show samples of rings available. You may also purchase from him on Friday, October 20 while he is here taking Senior orders.

ASVAB: Searcy High School will offer the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test on November 14. This test provides valuable insight to students as they plan their career goals; even students not interested in the military. Any interested 11th or 12th grade student must sign up in the Guidance Center by November 7.

FTA: The monthly FTA Meeting will be this Friday morning, Oct 20 at 7:30 in the cafeteria.
KEY CLUB: Key Club members need to drop by Mr. Snow’s room 112 and sign-up for the Pancake Breakfast ASAP scheduled for Nov. 7th. Also sign-up for giving blood in the Key Club Blood Drive coming up on Nov. 16th. We will also need a few workers for the Blood Drive.
ART CLUB: Wed. October 18th the Art Club will go on an all day Field Trip to Glass From the Past
