THE NHS FOOD DRIVE benefiting the SHS Student Council food pantry will be NEXT WEEK (Jan 29-Feb 2). This is a competition between the grades. Each grade has been assigned certain food items to bring to help stock the food pantry that benefits our SHS students. Students can bring food items to their teachers or to Mrs. Rose or Mrs. Webb. Please look in your classrooms to see what each grade is supposed to bring. Ramen Noodles are not needed at this point so please do not bring those at this time. Thank you.

9th grade: Peanut Butter Crackers, Cheese Crackers, Saltines, Deodorant

10th grade: Individual Snack Packages- Cookies, Snack Cakes, Pretzels, Chips, and Wet Wipes

11th Grade:  Ready- to- eat pasta meals, Soup, Rice Meals, Ravioli, etc…** Only pop top cans, no cans that need a can opener, and toothpaste.   

12th Grade: Pop tarts, Granola bars, breakfast bars, toothpaste.         

 

JUST A REMINDER: Item 5 on page 33 in the handbook states: “Hats, caps, sunglasses, bandannas, sweatbands, and other headgear deemed inappropriate are not to be worn.”

WRESTLING SENIOR NIGHT: Thursday 01/25  is  the last home matches and senior night for the Searcy Wrestling Team.  Senior presentations will start at 5:30.  Wrestling will start at 6:00pm.    We will also have a presentation for wrestlers that have received over 100 career wins and the dance team will perform. Match-ups will be with Jonesboro and Mt. Home.  The team’s current record is 21-0. Come out and support the Wrestling Team!

 

CONGRATULATIONS  to the following students for being named to the Region IV All-Region Band on Saturday.  They will participate in the region band clinic on SHS and Harding campuses on Friday, January 26 and perform a concert at SHS PAC on Saturday, January 27.  Great job!

SENIORS: If your parents are members of White County Farm bureau, please come by the Guidance Center for a scholarship application.

 

SENIORS:  If  you are a minority and plan to attend UALR and major in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) please come by and see Mrs. Cleveland for a scholarship opportunity. Or you may visit ualr.edu/lsamp for information and an application form.

 

YEARBOOK ORDERS: TIME IS RUNNING OUT!  Outside each English classroom, there is a list of students who HAVE PAID for a yearbook. If your name is not on the list and you want a book, go to the website on the list to order one (www.jostensyearbooks.com).  You have a little less than a month left to preorder. Only a few extra books will be ordered, and they will be sold at a higher price. 

 

ACT MATH PREP CLASS: Kelsey Simpson will offer an ACT Math Prep Class on February 3rd. There are still several more spots open. The class will be at Harding University on February 3rd. 9am-12:30pm. Cost is $55.Her email for any interested students/parents to register is: simpsonkelcey@gmail.com

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

STEAM CLUB: STEAM Club’s first meeting is January 30th at 7:35am in Mrs. McNeill’s room 107.

 

YOUTH TO YOUTH: Youth to Youth will hold its monthly meeting this Friday morning, Jan 26, at 7:40 am in Mrs. Delgado’s room, 325.
