GRADUATES: You are required to clear debts before graduation practice Friday, May 11. You will receive notice if you
have lunch debts or library debt and your teachers should make you aware of any textbooks or club debt you have. IF
DEBTS ARE NOT CLEAR BEFORE THAT TIME, YOUR DIPLOMA WILL BE HELD UNTIL IT IS TAKE CARE OF.
No payments will be taken at practice or any time that weekend.
PETITIONS FOR ALL POSITIONS, STUDENT BODY AND CLASS OFFICERS/REPRESENTATIVES: will be
available starting Monday morning 4/30 from Mrs. Jones in room 320. Petitions will also be available though the English
teachers. Every student who gets a petition will still need to come by Mrs . Jones’s room to verify they’ve read the campaign
guidelines.
The election dates will be as follows:
Petitions: Monday 4/30; due by Fri 5/4 at 3:05
Campaigning may begin on Monday 5/8- Fri 5/11
Voting will be on Fri 5/11 in the English classes
Results will be announced Monday 5/14
THE WHITE COUNTY YOUTH PREPAREDNESS COUNCIL: is looking for students who are entering grades 10-12
in the 2018-2019 school year. The goal of this council is to involve the community's youth in emergency preparedness-
related activities. Students will meet with emergency management staff throughout their term to provide input strategies,
initiatives, and projects involving their schools and communities. Applications may be pick up in the guidance center. They
must be returned by Wednesday, April 25th at the end of the day.
TENNIS TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2018 varsity tennis team will begin on May 14-15 @ 5:00 at the SHS courts. You
must have a current physical in order to try out. No exceptions. Returning players must try out. The top 10 players on ladies'
and men's sides will make varsity. Everyone else will be invited to play in the SYTL. Students may begin signing up for
tennis tryouts on Mon. April 30th in Doc Watson's room (317).
ANY GT STUDENT : entering grades 10-12 this fall and are interested in attending "Arkansas and the World:Model United
Nations Summer Camp" please come by the Guidance Center for more information or by logging on to the website

FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS: The final transcript for seniors that includes 2nd semester grades and graduation date
will not be sent to schools until after graduation. They will be sent no earlier than Wednesday, May 16. If you requested a
personal copy that will not be ready until May 18.
WRESTLING TRYOUTS: For any boy or girl that would like to join the wrestling team. The Searcy High School
Wrestling team will be holding tryouts May 1st and 2nd from 3:30 to 6pm in the Wrestling Room (Old Field House). You
must have a physical to tryout. Go by Coach Ashburn or Mrs. Evans room to pick up a flyer and sign up.
MIKEROWE WORKS FOUNDATION’SWORK ETHIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: For the fourth year in a row,
the mikeroweWORKS Foundation’sWork Ethic Scholarship Program is accepting applications for qualified people
looking to get trained for skills jobs that are in demand. This includes carpentry, construction, plumbing, HVAC, and
electrical.
The deadline to submit applications is May 19, 2017, and applicants are strongly encouraged to submit applications as
early as possible.

THE ARKANSAS CATTLEMAN'S ASSOCIATION :has posted scholarships to their web
page; https://www.arbeef.org/scholarships Any senior who is considering a career in the cattle industry, the Food
Animal Veterinarian/Agricultural communicator area, or any agriculture-related area can find applications for scholarships
with the descriptions of what the requirements are for each of the scholarships.
2018 SHS GRADUATION DVD PRE-ORDERS: Pick up your DVD order form in either office. Each DVD is $20, and the
money must be turned in with your order. Please have exact change or check will be accepted.
YEARBOOK APPLICATIONS:for the 2018-19 Lion staff are available. Please see Mrs. Holeyfield in room 539 if you are
interested. Applications are due by April 30, 2018.
IMMUNIZATIONS: If a student has turned 16 years old this school year, a 2nd MCV4 (Meningitis) immunization is
required after turning 16 years old. Please bring a copy of your shot record to the nurse, once you have received the 2nd
MCV4 immunization.
FINAL VARSITY BASKETBALL TRYOUTS :The final chance to tryout for varsity basketball team will be May 21 and
22 at 1:00-2:30 pm in the High School Gym. Students must have a current physical on file with the school to tryout.
GOLF TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2018 SHS Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 14th-15th at Searcy Country
Club. Any student wishing to tryout MUST sign up in Coach Turney's room (117), have a physical, and return the
information sheet. There will be a MANDATORY meeting in Coach Turney's room on May 10th at 3:15 for all students
wishing to tryout. Free physicals at school are scheduled for April 6th. Physical forms and information sheets can be picked
up in Coach Turney's room.
