SOFTBALL TRYOUTS: Softball tryouts will be held May 16 and 17 for any 9th-11th grade girl at the softball
complex, starting at 3:30 pm. We should be done by 5-530 each day.
All participants will need to have a physical current through those dates and athletic clothes.
Any questions see Coach Long.
LADY LIONS SOCCER TRYOUTS will be May 21st and 22nd at Lion Stadium from 3:30-4:30. Be sure to bring shin
guards.  We will have soccer balls available. Jr. High needs to sign up in the office with Mrs. Hamilton and High School sign
up in the west office with Miss Dee Dee.
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: will be May 21st and 22nd from 3:30-4:30 at the grass field located by the softball and
baseball field here at the High School. Players must have a current physical to participate.
TENNIS TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2018 varsity tennis team will begin on May 14-15 @ 5:00 at the SHS courts.  You
must have a current physical in order to try out.  No exceptions.  Returning players must try out. The top 10 players on ladies'
and men's sides will make varsity.  Everyone else will be invited to play in the SYTL.  Students may begin signing up for
tennis tryouts on Mon. April 30th in Doc Watson's room (317).
FINAL VARSITY BASKETBALL TRYOUTS : The final chance to try out for varsity basketball team will be May 21
and 22 at 1:00-2:30 pm in the High School Gym. Students must have a current physical on file with the school to tryout.
GOLF TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2018 SHS Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 14th-15th at Searcy Country
Club.  Any student wishing to tryout MUST sign up in Coach Turney's room (117), have a physical, and return the
information sheet.  There will be a MANDATORY meeting in Coach Turney's room on May 10th at 3:15 for all students
wishing to tryout.  Free physicals at school are scheduled for April 6th.  Physical forms and information sheets can be picked
up in Coach Turney's room.
SUMMER ACT PROGRAM: Searcy High School will offer ACT Prep this summer to interested Searcy High School
students.  The program will begin May 29 and run through June 1 from 8:00-12:30 each day.  Interested students can pick
up an application in the Guidance Center at their convenience.  The class will be offered on a first come first served basis.
The deadline to return the completed application is May 21.
SUMMER SCHOOL: Searcy High School will offer summer school to Searcy High School students who
have failed courses.  SHS summer school is for credit recovery ONLY.   We will offer courses in English, math, science,
social studies, foreign language, as well as a few electives.  Students in need of summer school may pick up an application in
the Guidance Center at their convenience.
11TH GRADE STUDENTS: Command Construction is offering a PAID summer apprentice program for rising high school
seniors.  The 8 week program offers the opportunity for selected applicants to learn the concrete construction industry.
Selected students will earn $12/hour.  The program will run from June 4-July 27.  Students will be supervised by an
experienced team leader and will work one month with a specialized construction carpenter and one month with a concrete
finisher.  Applicants must be 17 or become 17 during the apprenticeship period. Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday,
May 25.  Interested students can pick up an application in the Guidance Center.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS FOR BEING SELECTED FOR CLINICAL
INTERNSHIP 2018-2019 Clinical students from SHS are: Devin Amplo, Mallory Cunningham, Alyssa Dodson, Logan
Hite, Bray Medler, Alyssa Warren-Belford, Molly Wilson, Melody Zheng. lst alternate is Ally Dickson
REMINDER: Please make sure the office has your correct home address.  Report cards and registration forms will be mailed
out over the summer.
IMMUNIZATIONS: If a student has turned 16 years old this school year, a 2nd MCV4 (Meningitis) immunization is
required after turning 16 years old.  Please bring a copy of your shot record to the nurse, once you have received the 2nd
MCV4 immunization.
FOUND: Pandora bracelet found in library last week
