The Searcy High Lions Football Team Headed into a Successful Season

Lions starting the season off strong with a record of 3-0.

SEARCY, Ark. (LP)–  Last year, Searcy Lions Football Team had an astounding record of 10-3. Their season ended after losing, in round two of state against the Pine Bluff Zebras.

So far, the Searcy Lion Football Team has had a very successful season. Taking on the Morrilton Devil Dogs and winning 46-26, then the Sheridan Yellowjackets also beating them 42-0, and lastly, the Batesville Pioneers with a winning score of 40-15. Starting the season off with a 3-0 record. The Searcy Lions are looking forward to competing at State in November and winning the Grand Title of being the State Champs for the 2018 Season. Many believe that the coaches are doing more than a splendid job with these boys so far this year. The Searcy Lions will be taking on the Jacksonville this Friday night. This may be there most toughest upcoming challenge yet. Searcy Quarterback, Peyton Wright, has also did an outstanding job this season with more than 960 passing yards. Wright has also completed ten of fourteen total passes. Senior, Tony Young is also making his way up the scale with a total of 431 rushing yards and eleven total touchdowns.

Senior, Trystan Alcorn, plays the position of a Strong Safety and make some amazing plays during the game. Trystan Alcorn has a total of 164 receiving yards, averaging 11.7 yards a game. He has successfully caught 14 passes and has two tackles for this season. Over his whole career, Trystan Alcorn has an averaged about 18.2 yards for the few years he’s played for Searcy. The Searcy Lions are preparing for this upcoming game against the Jacksonville Titans. Senior, Trystan Alcorn, stated, “ We are focusing on the small details that will take our team to the next level toward being the best we can be.” He also stated, “ We are very confident and working toward being able to play in the state championship but we focus on one game at a time not getting ahead of ourselves.” Alcorn is working towards a football scholarship and hopes to go Division I. With hard work and countless hours of practice, no one is going to be able to stop the Searcy Lions Football team. These boys are working hard everyday to be successful as a team and also as an individual. Although they’ve had to over come some obstacles like one of their lineman, Tanner Thomas, being out for the rest of the season with a torn MCL, the Senior High Football team is still in high spirits for a great season.
