THE SHS FOOD PANTRY IS OPEN!  Don’t go hungry over the weekend.  Talk to any teacher, see Mrs. Little in room 102 or Mrs. Edelmann in room 204.  We have food packs ready for you.

 

SENIOR AD PACKETS are now available.  You may get one from your English teacher or either office.  Ads are due by October 12.

 

WILLIAMS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY will hold their Senior Preview Days on September 21, October 5th and October 19th. Interested students should apply at www.williamsbu.edu/senior/

 

PEP RALLY: There will be a high pep rally on Friday, Sept. 21 for grades 10-12 at 2:40.

 

JOSTENS WILL BE ON CAMPUS, October 15th, in the cafeteria for presentations for Juniors and Seniors.

Juniors 8am – 8:45am

Seniors 8:50 am – 9:35am

 

FUTURE FALL FEST: Searcy High School will host our Annual Fall Future Fest on on October 8.  We will have all seniors go to the cafeteria from 8:05-8:45 and juniors from 8:55-9:35. Parents are welcome to attend.

 

ATTENTION 9TH GRADERS!  If you are interested in running for student council, get an information sheet and petition from your Heart Bridge teacher or Mrs. Edelmann in room 204.  They are due to Mrs. Edelmann by Friday, September 21 at 3:15.  Elections will be on Friday, September 28 in Heart Bridge classes.

 

ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY PACK PREVIEW DAY will be on Saturday, October 6. This will be their only preview day this semester and is separate from the Red Wolf Ready Academic Open House events.

Pack Preview Day is open to juniors and seniors, as well as their family members/guests. The day will consist of an information fair, academic sessions, student services and involvement panels, and campus/residence hall/NYIT tours.

This is their most in-depth event to give students a glimpse into life at A-State. The event is completely free, but students are required to register at www.astate.edu/packpreview.

 

COLLEGE 101 FOR PARENTS: On Monday, September 24 from 7-8 p.m. at the First Community Bank (800 E. Beebe Capps Expy. in Searcy), Glenn Dillard will present College 101 for Parents.  This free session will let parents know what they should be doing now to prepare for their college experience regardless of where their child may attend college.  Mr. Dillard has been woking in admissions and financial aid in higher education for 30 years.  He is currently the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management at Harding University.

PSAT: Searcy High School will give the PSAT to ALL 10th grade students on October 10.  10th grades students do NOT have to register. Any 11th grade student who is interested in taking the PSAT on October 10 can sign up in the Guidance Center starting Monday, September 11.  The cost to test is $17/student and is due at sign up.  At the time of sign up students will receive a practice test and information booklet to prepare for the test.  The sooner a student signs up the more time they will have to prepare for the test.  The deadline to sign up is September 21. 

9TH GRADE PEP RALLY: The Pep Rally has been moved to Thursday Sept. 20th.  

 

THE ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC. is offering their Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Application Deadline is November 15, 2018. Seniors may apply online at: https://www.elks.org/scholars/scholarships/MVS.cfm. If you need further information, please contact the Guidance Center.  Elks Post # 2247

 

MAKE-UP/GROUP PICTURES:  On September 26, Bowden Photography will be on campus for Make-up and Group pictures.

 

Quiz Bowl: First Quiz Bowl Practice for 10th-12th graders will be Monday, September 17th from 3:15-4:15 in Room 123

                

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

STUDENT COUNCIL:Student Council will meet on Monday, September 24 at 7:30 in Mrs. Edelmann’s room (204).

 

BETA CLUB will meet Wednesday, September 19th, at 7:35am in the cafeteria. 

 

KEY CLUB: New Key Club membership applications can be picked up in Mr. Snow’s room 112.  The first meeting for new members will be Tuesday, October 2nd in the cafeteria at 7:35 A.M.  Dues for new members-$20.

 

FCCLA: Members interested in competing in STAR events or running for a district office should stop by the FACS room and let Ms. Johnston know by the 26th.
