POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL : The annual junior girls vs. senior girls PowderPuff Tournament is this Saturday at 3:00 at Lion Stadium. HONOR STOLES will be available for pick up by honor graduates in the Registrar’s Office beginning Monday, April 15th.

SHS FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASS will be selling artisan pulseras (bracelets) & bolsitas (bags) from Nicaragua & Guatemala for the Pulsera Project until April 12th. The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit organization that creates sustainable fair trade jobs in other countries to fund scholarships, community programs, etc. Pulseras are $5 & Bolsitas are $10. Thank you!! CONGRATULATIONS to the SHS Chess Team on winning 3rd place at the State Chess Tournament Saturday in Bald Knob.  Team members who competed were Tyler Ellis, Matthew Fudge, Lawson Neal and Anthony Osbourn.SENIORS: Colleges and Universities will require an 8 SEMESTER TRANSCRIPT foradmission purposes.  You must complete an 8 Semester Transcript Request Form found inthe East or West offices.

SHS FILM FESTIVAL: The Searcy High School Theatre Department invites all SHS students to participate in our Spring Film Festival. Students are encouraged to write, direct, film, and star in a five minute short film and attend the viewing on April 23.What: 5 minute Film FestivalWhen: April 23, 6:30 pm (doors open 30 min. prior)Where: SHS Performing Arts CenterWho: SHS Students How: 1. Pick up judging rubric & entry form from outside Mrs. Taylor’s room in the PAC      2. Submit video to Mrs. Taylor via email at mtaylor@searcyschools.org or sharethrough Google Drive (same email address). Films will be presented to an audience and judges in the SHS Performing Arts Center on April 23, starting at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.).  All participants along with family and friends are invited. Tickets will be sold at the door ($5 per person). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded.DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: APRIL 12 by 10:00 p.m.

COMMAND CONSTRUCTION INC. of Searcy is pleased to announce its 2019 SUMMER APPRENTICE PROGRAM for rising high school seniors. Students will earn $11 per hour which is comparable to entry-level career concrete finishers. The program will run from June 3 through July 26, summer apprentices will be supervised by an experienced team leader and work for one month with a specialized construction carpenter and one month with a concrete finisher.   Interested students can pick up an application in the Guidance Center.

SEARCY BOARD OF REALTORS are offering the “Tina B. Daniel Scholarship” as well as a “Technical/Vocational Studies Scholarship. The deadline is April 15th! Please come by the Guidance Center if you are interested in an application.SHS TENNIS TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the 2019 varsity tennis team will begin on May 14-15 @ 4:00 at the SHS courts.  You must have a current physical in order to try out.  No exceptions.  Returning players must try out. The top 10 players on ladies’ and men’s sides will make varsity.  Everyone else will be considered for junior varsity and will be invited to play in the SYTL.  Students may begin signing up for tennis tryouts on Mon. April 15 in Doc Watson’s room (317). Incoming freshmen may stop by the high school or email their names to Dr. Watson to add themselves to the list.  GOLF TRYOUTS:  Tryouts for the 2019 Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 13th-14th at Searcy Country Club at 3:30.  Any student interested in trying out needs to see Coach Turney in Room 117.  There will be a mandatory meeting for all students trying out in Coach Turney’s room (117) on Thursday, May 9th at 3:15.  Students must have a physical, return the information sheet, and attend the meeting in order to tryout. SEARCY HIGH SCHOOL PROM PERMISSION FORM:  If a Searcy Senior or Junior plans to invite a guest (10th, 11th or 12th grade) to the Prom that does not attend Searcy High School, you must complete a “Guest Permission Form” prior to the prom.  The forms may be picked up in the East or West Office and must be returned to the East Office by April 25.HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: High School Girls (10-12th) Basketball TryoutApril 15-16th from 3:15-4:30 @ SHS Main Gym
