Searcy Bands preps for annual Christmas concert

Band Concert Folder

Searcy, Ar. (LP) – Christmas time is almost here and a lot of people are excited for it.  For a lot of people, it’s the best time of the year; the most wonderful time of the year.  For a long time, the band has always cooked up a special something for Christmas.  The annual Christmas concert is here and everyone is ready for it.  After the marching season ends, band students are introduced to the music they’re going to play for the Christmas concert. The band is playing 5 pieces of music as usual. This years music includes “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jesus Jesus Rest Your Head,” “White Christmas,” and finally “An Irish Party in Third Class.”

This years music doesn’t seem to be that hard but it is challenging for some students.  As for others, it’s easy. Jackson James, a senior, said that “None of the music is hard.  I’m having lots of playing this years music.”  “A Charlie Brown Christmas” seems to be the hardest piece for a lot of people.  “The skating part of the song is hard. I’m still practicing on it, but it’s hard. The fingering is hard, but I’m trying,” said Junior Alexis Speights.  The band rehearses every day during the first period.  They’ve been rehearsing this years music since the end of October.  It seems weird to start early, but all of that practice makes up for it. Some of those days were spent going over the playoff show, but everything seems to be going according to plan.  “This year has been really fast and it seems like we just got the music yesterday,” said Alexis.

The concert is December 7th, the first Sunday of December when it always takes place.  It starts around 2 p.m and should last around an hour and a half, although it can last longer.  Not only is the High School Band playing, but so is the 8th grade band.  “This is my final Christmas concert, so I want to make the most out of it,” said Jackson. A lot of the seniors will be sad as this will be their final Christmas concert.

The day before the concert, the band will go to the State Championship to help support the football team. Go and see the band perform at the PAC on December 7th.

It would be great for the band to get support after all of the hard work they’ve put in. Go band!
